Terror attacks in Turkey over the past 10 years

Last Sunday, a treacherous attack was carried out on Istiklal Street, one of the busiest districts of Istanbul. As a result of the bombing, 6 of our people were killed, 81 people were injured. The attacker was caught by the Istanbul police. Reyhanli attack, 2013
One of the most important items on the political agenda in Turkey in 2013 was the settlement process. During such a period, on May 11, 2013, a terrible terrorist attack took place in the Reykhanli district of the city of Hatay. The explosion killed 53 people and injured 146. This was stated by the then Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.We have started a new era in our country, the decision process. The trial, which brought 33 people to justice for this horrific attack, ended in 2018. Nine people, including Nasir Eskiochak, who was accused of planning and executing the attack, received 53 aggravated life sentences. In addition, 13 different defendants were sentenced to terms ranging from 15 to 22 years in prison…
In 2015, there were many terrorist attacks in Turkey one after another.

A few days before the general elections on 7 June 2015, a bomb exploded at a HDP rally in Diyarbakır. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack. As a result of this attack, 5 people were killed, more than 400 people were injured.
In the June 7 elections, the AKP lost its majority in Turkey’s Grand National Assembly for the first time since it came to power in 2002. Negotiations on a coalition also did not bring results, and on November 1, a decision was made to call for early elections. Here, in the period from June 7 to November 1, Turkey witnessed many terrorist attacks.
Attack on Suruc, 2015

On July 20, 2015, a terrorist attack was committed in the Suruc district of Sanliurfa. The attack killed 34 people. More than 150 people were injured. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, which took place during a press release from members of the Federation of Socialist Youth Associations who had gathered to bring aid from Suruç to Kobani.
Two days after the attack in Suruç, two policemen were killed, this time in the Ceylanpinar district of the city of Sanlıurfa. These two events have been interpreted as “the de facto end of the decision process”. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on July 29 that the process had come to an end.
Ankara station attack, 2015

On the eve of the November 1 elections, another terrorist attack took place in Turkey. During the Labor, Peace, Democracy rally held in front of the Ankara railway station on October 10, 2015, two different suicide attacks were carried out. The incident, which killed 103 people and injured more than 500, was recorded as “the bloodiest attack in Turkish history.”
About 500 people died in Turkey in terrorist attacks between 2015 and 2016.

Since the attack on the HDP rally in June 2015, there has been at least one terrorist attack in 13 of the 18 months that followed. These attacks were organized by the terrorist organizations PKK, TAK and ISIS.
In 2016, Turkey was repeatedly subjected to terrorist attacks.

On January 12, 2016, a terrorist attack occurred on Sultanahmet Square in Istanbul, for which ISIS claimed responsibility. As a result of the attack, 12 people were killed and 16 people were injured.
Just 2 days after the terrorist attack in Istanbul, on January 14, 2016, the ugly face of terrorism appeared in Diyarbakir. The PKK attacked the building of the Diyarbakir Chinar Police Department with a car bomb. As a result of the incident, 6 people were killed and 38 people were injured.
On February 17, 2016, the capital Ankara again became the address of terrorism. During the passage of military equipment in front of the General Staff Building, an attack was made on a car bomb of the TAK terrorist organization. As a result of the attack, 28 people were killed, 61 people were injured …
As a result of a suicide attack that occurred on March 19, 2016 in front of the office of the governor of the Beyoglu district, 5 people were killed and 36 people were injured.
Ankara Güvenpark attack, 2016

After the terrorist attack on March 13, 2016, 3 treacherous bomb explosions took place in Ankara within 5 months. A car bomb exploded in front of Güvenpark bus stops, killing 36 people and injuring more than 300.
Attacks on Atatürk Airport and Vodafone Arena, 2016

On June 28, 2016, ISIS militants carried out a terrorist attack at Ataturk Airport. 45 people were killed, 250 people were injured.
When the dates were shown on December 10, after the match, another terrorist attack occurred at the Vodafone Arena stadium. The purpose of the terrorists was the OMON bus. A few seconds after this attack, the security forces noticed another terrorist in Macka Park and detonated an explosive device on him. In two attacks, 47 of our citizens were killed, 40 of whom were police officers.
Turkey was also targeted by terrorist organizations on the last day of 2016. 39 people, mostly tourists, were killed in an ISIS attack on the Reina nightclub.
Our cities, where the terrorist attacks took place in 2016, were not limited to Istanbul and Ankara.

On April 27, 2016, a terrorist attack in Bursa killed 1 and injured 13 people. The terrorist organization TAK claimed responsibility for the attack.
During a street wedding in the Shahinbey district of Gaziantep on August 20, 59 people were killed and more than 90 injured in a bombing by ISIS.
On December 17, the treacherous terrorist organization PKK targeted soldiers who were using a market pass in Kayseri. The PKK attacked a bus carrying soldiers with a car bomb. The attack killed 15 servicemen.
